June 2020 marked The Velvet Principle’s 10th anniversary. When we started developing plans for celebrating this milestone late last year, little did we imagine that our birthday would fall during a worldwide pandemic.  Any ideas of a party to mark the occasion were swiftly kicked into touch.

However lockdown has given us time to reflect on what a great journey it’s been so far and think about how we want to evolve and develop over the next ten.

We would be nothing without our clients who’ve given us the opportunity to work on some great projects. We’ve been fortunate to  work with some of the most talented and inspiring teams within the property sector;  get to know places we may never have visited otherwise – Azerbaijan, Oman, Moscow to name but a few; and met some damn fine people in the process. A heartfelt thanks to you all for your faith and confidence in us – we never take it for granted. 

Who knows what the future may hold? Or the extent to which the legacy of Covid-19 will shape our lives and priorities, even once a successful vaccine becomes readily available. Against this background of uncertainty, we’re clear that sustainability and inclusivity principles will be at the heart of The Velvet Principle’s business and design practice. 

With change comes the opportunity to think and do things differently. Ten years ago, striking out on our own to to set up a new business, felt like a huge leap into the unknown. As we embark on the next 10 it seems little has changed.
